حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَا: ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانٍ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا يُحَدُّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ إِلَّا الْمَرْأَةُ، فَإِنَّهَا تُحِدُّ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا، وَلَا تَلْبَسُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا إِلَّا ثَوْبَ عَصْبٍ، وَلَا تَكْتَحِلُ، وَلَا تَطَيَّبُ، إِلَّا عِنْدَ أَدْنَى طُهْرِهَا، تَطَيَّبُ بِقُسْطٍ وَأَظْفَارٍ» ،
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No woman should mourn for any deceased person for more than three days, except for a husband, for whom she mourns four months and ten days. She should not wear dyed clothing except a garment of 'asb, nor apply kohl, nor apply perfume, except at the beginning of her purification (that is, when becoming pure from menstruation), when she may use qust and azfar (a light fragrance)."
