حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَتْ: " بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَكَانَ فِيمَا أَمَرَنَا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ أَنْ لَا نَنُوحَ، فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ آلَ فُلَانٍ أَسْعَدَتْنِي، فَلَنْ أُبَايِعَكَ حَتَّى أَسْعِدَهُنَّ، قَالَتْ فَأَسْعَدْتُهُنَّ، ثُمَّ بَايَعَتْهُ قَالَتْ: فَلَمْ تَفِ مِنَّا امْرَأَةٌ غَيْرِي وَأُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ "
Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and among the good things he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us was that we would not wail (over the dead). A woman said: O Messenger of Allah! The family of so-and-so helped me in wailing; I will not pledge allegiance to you until I help them. Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: So I helped them, and then pledged allegiance to him (peace and blessings be upon him). Not one woman among us fulfilled this pledge except me and Umm Sulaym.
