حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَتْ: " أَمَرَنَا بِالْخُرُوجِ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ: وُنُخْرِجُ الْحُيَّضَ وَالْعَوَاتِقَ وَذَوَاتَ الْخُدُورِ، فَأَمَّا الْحُيَّضُ، فَيَشْهَدْنَ جَمَاعَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَدَعْوَتَهُمْ وَيَعْتَزِلْنَ صَلَاتِهِمْ "
Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We were ordered to go out on the two Eids, and we would bring out the menstruating women, the young unmarried girls and the secluded women as well; as for the menstruating women, they would witness the gathering of the Muslims and their supplication, but would keep away from the prayer.
