حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا هُشَيْمٌ، أنا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ: " يُخْرِجُ الْأَبْكَارَ وَالْعَوَاتِقَ وَذَوَاتَ الْخُدُورِ وَالْحُيَّضَ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ، فَأَمَّا الْحُيَّضُ، فَيَعْتَزِلْنَ الْمُصَلَّى، وَيَشْهَدْنَ الْخَيْرَ وَدَعْوَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَقَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ: إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِإِحْدَاهُنَّ جِلْبَابٌ؟ قَالَ: فَلْتُعِرْهَا أُخْتُهَا مِنْ جَلَابِيبِهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to bring out the virgins, the young girls, the secluded women and the menstruating women on the two Eids; as for the menstruating women, they would keep away from the place of prayer, but would witness the good and the supplication of the Muslims. One of them said: What if one of us has no outer cloak (jilbab)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let her sister lend her one of her cloaks."
