Sa'd bin Ishaq bin Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his paternal aunt Zaynab bint Ka'b, from Sayyidah Furay'ah bint Malik (may Allah be pleased with her), the sister of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that her husband Bakkar hired some non-Arab labourers to work for him, and they killed him. So I told this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am not in a house that is his, nor do I receive any provision from him, so (may) I move to my family and my orphans and look after them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do so." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) reconsidered and said: "Observe your waiting period ('iddah) where the news reached you."
