حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ، أَوْ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ - شَكَّ شُعْبَةُ - أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَمَّتَهُ زَيْنَبَ تُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ فُرَيْعَةَ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ مَعَ زَوْجِهَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ قُرَى الْمَدِينَةِ، وَأَنَّهُ اتَّبَعَ أَعْلَاجًا فَقَتَلُوهُ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ الْوَحْشَةَ، وَذَكَرْتُ أَنَّهَا فِي مَنْزِلٍ لَيْسَ لَهَا، وأنَّهَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَنْ تَأْتِي إِخْوَتَهُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَأَذِنَ لَهَا، ثُمَّ دَعَاهَا، فَقَالَ: «امْكُثِي فِي بَيْتِكِ الَّذِي جَاءَكِ فِيهِ نَعْيُهُ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Furay'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was with her husband in one of the villages of Madinah, and her husband pursued some (runaway) slaves, and they killed him. (She said:) I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned my loneliness to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and told him that she was in a house that was not her property, and she asked permission to go to her husband's brothers in Madinah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave permission, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called her and said: "Remain in the same house in which the news of your husband's death reached you, until the waiting period ('iddah) is completed."
