حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَارُودِيُّ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ الْجَهْمِ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا طَلَّقَهَا ثَلَاثًا، فَقَالَتْ: مَتَّعَنِي بِثَلَاثَةِ آصُعٍ شَعِيرٍ، وَثَلَاثَةِ آصُعٍ تَمْرٍ، قَالَتْ: وَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَكُونَ عِنْدَ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ فَإِنَّهُ مَكْفُوفُ الْبَصَرِ لَا يَرَانِي حِينَ اخْلَعُ خِمَارِي، قَالَ: «فَإِذَا حَلَلْتِ فَلَا تَسْبِقِينِي» فَلَمَّا حَلَلْتُ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَذَكَرَكِ أَحَدٌ؟» قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، مُعَاوِيَةُ، وَأَبُو جَهْمٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَمَّا أَبُو جَهْمٍ، فَشَدِيدُ الْخُلُقِ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ، وَأَمَّا مُعَاوِيَةُ فَلَا مَالَ لَهُ، وَلَكِنِ انْكِحِي أُسَامَةَ» ، فَقُلْتُ: أُسَامَةُ - تَهَاوُنًا بِأَمْرِ أُسَامَةَ - ثُمَّ قُلْتُ: سَمْعًا وَطَاعَةً لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، فَزَوَّجَنِي أُسَامَةَ «فَكَرَمَنِي اللهُ بِابْنِ زَيْدٍ، وشَرَّفَنِي اللهُ بِابْنِ زَيْدٍ، ونَفَعَنِي اللهُ بِابْنِ زَيْدٍ»
Abu Bakr bin al-Jahm (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I went in to Fatimah bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her), and her husband had divorced her three times. She said: He sent me three sa' of barley and three sa' of dates. Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to stay at the house of Ibn Umm Maktum, for he was blind; when I took off my head covering he could not see me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When your waiting period is over, do not decide anything before (consulting) me." When my waiting period was over, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Has anyone proposed to you?" I said: "Yes, Mu'awiyah and Abu Jahm." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for Abu Jahm, he is harsh with his women; and as for Mu'awiyah, he has no wealth. Rather, marry Usamah." I said: "Usamah?" (making light of Usamah's standing). Then I said: "We hear and obey Allah and His Messenger." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me to Usamah, "and Allah honoured me through the son of Zayd, Allah ennobled me through the son of Zayd, and Allah benefited me through the son of Zayd."
