حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، ثنا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، مَوْلَى الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا عَمْرِو بْنِ حَفْصٍ، طَلَّقَهَا ألْبَتَّةَ وَهُوَ غَائِبٌ، فَأَرْسَلَ وَكِيلَهُ بِشَعِيرٍ فَتَسَخَّطَتْهُ فَقَالَ: وَاللهِ مَا لَكِ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ، فَجَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ: «لَيْسَ لَكِ نَفَقَةٌ» فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ شَرِيكٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «تِلْكَ امْرَأَةٌ يَغْشَاهَا أَصْحَابِي، اعْتَدِّي فِي بَيْتِ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ، فَإِنَّهُ رَجُلٌ أَعْمَى تَضَعِينَ ثِيَابَكِ فَإِذَا حَلَلْتِ فائْتِينِي» فَلَمَّا حَلَلْتُ ذَكَرْتُ لَهُ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَأَبَا جَهْمِ بْنَ حُذَيْفَةَ خَطَبَانِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَمَا أَبُو جَهْمٍ فَلَا يَضَعُ عَصَاهُ عَنْ عَاتِقِهِ، وَأَمَّا مُعَاوِيَةُ فَصُعْلُوكٌ لَا مَالَ لَهُ، انْكِحِي أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ» قَالَتْ: فَكَرِهْتُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «انْكِحِي أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ» فَجَعَلَ اللهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا، وَاغْتَبَطْتُ بِهِ
Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her) that Abu Amr bin Hafs divorced her irrevocably while he himself was away. He sent his agent with some barley, and she was displeased with it. He said: "By Allah, you have no claim on us at all." So she came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this to him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are not entitled to maintenance." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to spend her waiting period ('iddah) in the house of Umm Sharik, and then he said: "She is a woman whom my Companions visit frequently. Spend your waiting period in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum, for he is a blind man; you can take off your outer garments. When your waiting period is over, inform me." Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When my waiting period was over, I mentioned to him (peace and blessings be upon him) that Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan and Abu Jahm bin Hudhayfah had proposed marriage to me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for Abu Jahm, he does not put his stick down from his shoulder; and as for Mu'awiyah, he is poor and has no wealth. Marry Usamah bin Zayd." Fatimah said: I disliked it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said again: "Marry Usamah bin Zayd." So Allah placed good in it for me, and I came to be envied (because of this marriage).
