Sayyidah Sallamah bint Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: In the Days of Ignorance my paternal uncle brought me (to Madinah) and sold me to al-Hubab bin Amr, and he took me as his concubine (surriyyah), and I bore him Abd al-Rahman bin al-Hubab. When spring came, people would stop watering the date palms and send off their water-drawing camels (to graze), so he would send me with his camel. Sometimes I would stay grazing it for two months, and sometimes I would stay with it so long that the darkness of night came. In one of those years I went out as usual, and he died in my absence, leaving a debt. When I returned, his wife said to me: O Sallamah, by Allah, now you will be sold to pay the debt. I said: If Allah has decreed this for me, I will hope for the reward. So I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him ((peace and blessings be upon him)) about my situation, and he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "Who is the owner of al-Hubab's estate?" The people said: His brother, Abu al-Yusr bin Amr. So he was called, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Free her, and when you learn that some slaves have come to us, come to me and I will compensate you for her." So they freed me. Then some slaves came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) called Abu al-Yusr and said: "Take a boy from these slaves for your nephew." He went and took a weak, sickly boy, and left the strong, healthy boys. I said: What stopped you from taking one of the strong boys? He said: By Allah, I feared for my nephew from them. And that nephew soon died. Ibn Ishaq said: I narrated this hadith to Rabi'ah bin Abd al-Rahman, and he said: By Allah, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) freed them only on the basis of this hadith.
