Sayyidah Sarra' bint Nabhan (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the head of a household in the Days of Ignorance, narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say during the Farewell Hajj: "Do you know what day this is?" (It was the day you call Yawm al-Ru'us.) The people said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "This is the middle day of the Days of Tashriq." Then he said: "Do you know what city this is?" They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "This is al-Mash'ar al-Haram." Then he said: "I do not know; perhaps I will not meet you again after this. Indeed, your blood, your wealth and your honour are sacred to you, just as this day of yours is sacred in this city of yours, until you meet your Lord and He asks you about your deeds. Indeed, let the one who is present convey this to the one who is absent. Indeed, have I conveyed the message?" Then when he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) came to Madinah, he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) passed away only a short time later.
