It is narrated from Sayyidah Khayrah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), that she came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with some jewellery and said: "I have given this in charity." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible for a woman to dispose of anything in her wealth without her husband's permission. So did you ask Ka'b's permission?" I said: "Yes." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: "Did you permit Khayrah to give her jewellery in charity?" He said: "Yes." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted that charity from her.
(At the end of the report another woman, "al-Kharqa al-Sawda" (the black woman al-Kharqa), is mentioned, who used to remove harmful things from the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); this phrase has remained disconnected and incomplete in the text.)
