حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا حُصَيْنٌ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ، عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ، قَالَتْ: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: فِي نِسَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ نَعُودُهُ وَهُوَ مَحْمُومٌ فَأَمَرَ بِسِقَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ فَعُلِّقَ عَلَى شَجَرَةٍ فَجَعَلَ الْمَاءَ يَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ مِنْ شِدَّة مَا يَجِدُ فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ اللهَ كَشَفَ مَا بِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ»
The paternal aunt of Abu Ubaydah bin Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We went with the Muhajir women to visit the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in his illness, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) had a fever. He (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a water-skin full of water be hung on a tree, and the water began dripping onto his (peace and blessings be upon him) heart because of the severity of his (peace and blessings be upon him) suffering. We said: O Messenger of Allah, if only you would supplicate to Allah to remove this suffering of yours. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The people most severely tested are the prophets, then those who come after them, then those who come after them."
