حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، ثنا دَهْثَمُ بْنُ قُرَّانٍ، عَنْ عَقِيلِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ مَوْلَى جَارِيَةَ بْنِ ظُفُرَ، عَنْ جَارِيَةَ بْنِ ظُفُرَ، أَنَّ أَخَوَيْنِ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا حِظَارٌ وَسَطَ دَارٍ فَمَاتَا وَتَرَكَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَقِبًا، فَادَّعَى عَقِبُ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا أَنَّ الْحِظَارَ لَهُ دُونَ صَاحِبِهِ، فَاخْتَصَمَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَرْسَلَ مَعَهُمَا حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ الْيَمَانِ، فَقَضَى بِالْحِظَارِ لِمَنْ وَجَدَ مَعَاقِدَ الْقِمْطِ تَلِيهِ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: «أَصَبْتَ أَوْ أَحْسَنْتَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jariyah bin Zafar (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a partition between two brothers in the middle of a house. They both died, and each of them left offspring, and the offspring of each claimed that the partition belonged to him and not to the other. So they took their dispute to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) with them. He judged that the partition belonged to the one on whose side the knots of the cords were. Then he returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You were correct," or "You did well."
