حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَتْ: قَدِمَتْ عَلِيَّ أُمِّي وَهِيَ مُشْرِكَةٌ فِي عَهْدِ قُرَيْشٍ وَمُدَّتِهِمُ الَّذِي عَاهَدُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدِمَتْ عَلِيَّ أُمِّي وَهِيَ رَاغِبَةٌ أَفَأَصِلُهَا؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ صِلِي أُمُّكِ»
Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) said: My mother came to me at the time when she was a polytheist, and this was during the treaty and period in which Quraysh had made a covenant with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I said: O Messenger of Allah! My mother has come to me and she desires (my kindness); shall I maintain ties with her? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, maintain ties with your mother."
