Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for the emigration and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) set out with him, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) took with him five thousand dirhams, or six thousand dirhams, and departed with them. Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Then our grandfather Abu Quhafah came to us, and he had lost his sight. He said: By Allah, I see that he (Abu Bakr) has grieved you by taking his wealth along with himself. I said: Not at all, O father! He has left much good for us. Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I took some stones and put them in the niche in the house where my father used to keep his wealth, then I put a cloth over them, then I took his hand and said: Place your hand on this wealth. He placed his hand and said: There is no harm if he has left this wealth for you. Then he lifted his hand and said: If he has left this for you, he has done well, and in this there is sufficiency for you. Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) said: By Allah, he had not left us anything, but I wanted to reassure the old man by this.
