حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَزِيزٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ، ثنا سَلَامَةُ بْنُ رَوْحٍ، ثنا عُقَيْلٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، «أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُخْرِجُونَ زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْمُدِّ الَّذِي يَقْتَاتُ بِهِ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ، يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ كُلُّهُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the people used to give Sadaqat al-Fitr by the same mudd with which the household measured its provisions, and all the people of Madinah did this.
