حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَطَّارُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ: «لَمَّا وَلَدْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ أُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَسَحَهُ، وَسَمَّاهُ عَبْدَ اللهِ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ بَعْدُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ - أَوْ ثَمَانٍ - لِيُبَايِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهُ الزُّبَيْرُ بِذَلِكَ، فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ رَآهُ مُقْبِلًا وَبَايَعَهُ»
Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: "When I gave birth to Abdullah bin al-Zubayr, he was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) stroked him affectionately and named him Abdullah. Later, when he was seven or eight years old, he came to pledge allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) had ordered him to do so. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled when he saw him coming, and accepted his pledge."
