Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 2040 — We prayed an obligatory prayer

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فَضَاءَ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بُدَيْلٍ، ثنا مُفَضَّلُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةً مَكْتُوبَةً فَضَمَّ يَدَيْهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ قُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَحَدَثَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ شَيْءٌ؟ قَالَ: «لَا إِلَّا أَنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ فَخَنَقْتُهُ حَتَّى وَجَدْتُ بَرْدَ لِسَانِهِ عَلَى يَدَيَّ، وَأَيْمُ اللهِ لَوْلَا مَا سَبَقَنِي إِلَيْهِ أَخِي سُلَيْمَانُ لَنِيطَ إِلَى سَارِيَةِ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يَطِيفَ بِهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): We prayed an obligatory prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) brought his two hands together during the prayer. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, we said: "O Messenger of Allah, did something new happen in the prayer?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, but Satan wanted to pass in front of me, so I seized him and choked him until I felt the coolness of his tongue on my hands. By Allah, had my brother Sulayman (peace be upon him) not preceded me (with his supplication), I would have tied him to one of the pillars of the mosque, so that the children of Madinah would have gathered around him (to look at him)."
