Al-Harith bin Mu'awiyah narrates from his maternal grandfather that he used to say: I have a hadith which, if I wished to earn the world through it, I could have done so; but may Allah not question me about a hadith that I convey to the ruler. My father said: I asked: What is it? He said: When Zayd rose in revolt, I went to my maternal aunt the next day and said to her: Mother! Zayd has risen in revolt. She said: The poor man! He will be killed just as his forefathers were killed. I said to her: Men of sound judgement have gone out with him. She said: I was with Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when the people discussed the caliphate. Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the people discussed the caliphate after him and said: The children of Fatimah (will be caliphs). the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will never attain it; rather, it will remain among the children of my uncle, the full brother of my father, until they hand it over to the Dajjal."
