حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زُغْبَةَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّهَا أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ أَسْلَمَ، يُقَالُ لَهَا سُبَيْعَةُ كَانَتْ تَحْتَ رَجُلٍ فَتُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا فَخَطَبَهَا أَبُو السَّنَابِلِ بْنُ بَعْكَكٍ فَأَبَتْ أَنْ تَنْكِحَهُ، فَقَالَ: مَا يَصْلُحُ لَكِ أَنْ تَنْكِحِي حَتَّى تَعْتَدِّي آخِرَ الْأَجَلَيْنِ، فَجَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «انْكِحِي مَنْ شِئْتِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that a woman of the tribe of Aslam named Subay'ah was married to a man, and then her husband died. Abu al-Sanabil bin Ba'kak proposed marriage to her, but she refused to marry him. He said: It is not permissible for you to marry until you complete the later of the two terms. So she came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Marry whomever you wish."
