حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ أَيْمَنَ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ: قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: لَمَّا خَطَبَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ لَهُ: فِيَّ خِلَالٌ ثَلَاثٌ، أَنَا كَبِيرَةُ السِّنِّ، وَأَنَا امْرَأَةٌ مُطَفَّلٌ، وَأَنَا امْرَأَةٌ شَدِيدَةُ الْغَيْرَةِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَمَّا الْأَطْفَالُ فَهُمْ إِلَى اللهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ، وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ فَأَدْعُو اللهَ أَنْ يُذْهِبَهَا عَنْكِ، وَأَمَّا السِّنُّ فَأَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْكِ سِنًّا» ، فَتَزَوَّجَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ تُرْضِعُ بِنْتَهَا زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْخُلُ وَيَخْرُجُ وَلَا يَقْرَبُهَا، وَكَانَ يُمَازِحُ ابْنَتَهَا إِذَا دَخَلَ، فَدَخَلَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ، فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ ابْنَتَكُمْ هَذِهِ الَّتِي قَدْ شَغَلَتْ أَهْلَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَخَذَهَا فَاسْتَرْضَعَ لَهَا سَعْيًا فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «أَيْنَ زُنَابُ؟» ، فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ: دَخَلَ عَمَّارٌ فَأَخَذَهَا فَاسْتَرْضَعَ لَهَا سَعْيًا، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَهْلِهِ
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) proposed marriage to me, I said: I have three traits: I am advanced in age, I am a woman with young children, and I am a woman of intense jealousy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for the children, their matter rests with Allah and His Messenger; as for the jealousy, I will supplicate to Allah to remove it from you; and as for age, I am older than you." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married her while she was nursing her daughter Zaynab bint Abi Salamah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come and go but not approach her, and when he came in he would play with her daughter. Then Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) came in and said: Where is this daughter of yours who has kept the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) occupied? So he took her and arranged for her to be nursed in Sa'y. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in and said: "Where is Zunab?" A woman said: Ammar came and took her away, and arranged for her to be nursed in Sa'y. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went in to his wife.
