حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا شَدَّادُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَنَا أَبْكِي عَلَى أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، فَقَالَ: «أَلَا أَدُلُّكِ عَلَى خَيْرٍ مِمَّا تَقُولِينَ؟ تَسْتَرْجِعِينَ وَتَقُولِينَ اللهُمَّ أَحْسِنْ عُقْبَايَ وَاجْبُرْ مُصِيبَتِي، وَأَبْدِلْنِي بِهِ خَيْرًا مِنْهُ» ، فَرَجَعْتُ وَقُلْتُ مَا قَالَ لِي، ثُمَّ جَعَلْتُ أَقُولُ وَأَيْنَ لِي بِمِثْلِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ؟، قَالَتْ: وَأَبْدَلَنِي اللهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me while I was weeping over Abu Salamah, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not guide you to something better than what you are saying? Say 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' (We belong to Allah and to Him we return), and say: O Allah, make my outcome good, compensate me for my calamity, and give me in exchange for him one better than him." So I went back and said what he had told me, and then I kept saying: Where will I find someone like Abu Salamah? And Allah gave me in exchange for Abu Salamah one better than him: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
