Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 20149 — We had a goat which we used to milk

حَدَّثَنَا طَالِبُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ الْأَذَنِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى زَحْمَوَيْهِ، قَالَا: ثنا فَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَتْ لَنَا شَاةٌ نَحْلُبُهَا فَفَقَدَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «مَا فَعَلَتْ شَاتُكُمْ؟» ، قَالُوا: مَاتَتْ، قَالَ: «مَا فَعَلْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا؟» ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلْقَيْنَاهُ، قَالَ: «أَفَلَا انْتَفَعْتُمْ بِهِ؟، فَإِنَّ دِبَاغُهَا ذَكَاتُهَا يَحِلُّ كَمَا يَحِلُّ الْخَلُّ مِنَ الْخَمْرِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: We had a goat which we used to milk. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) missed it and asked: "What happened to your goat?" They said: It died. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What did you do with its hide?" They said: O Messenger of Allah, we threw it away. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not benefit from it? Its tanning takes the place of its slaughter; it becomes lawful just as vinegar becomes lawful when it is made from wine."
