Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 20131 — When Sayyiduna Abu Salamah passed away

حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَسَدِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ تَهَيَّأْتُ أَنْ أَبْكِيَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فَاعِلَةٌ مَاذَا؟» ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ أَبْكِي عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: «لَا تَفْعَلِي، فَإِنَّ لِأَهْلِ الْمَيِّتِ عِنْدَ مَيِّتِهِمْ مَا دَعَوْا بِهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: When Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, I prepared to weep. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What are you about to do?" I said: O Messenger of Allah, I am weeping over Abu Salamah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do so, for whatever the family of the deceased pray for, they are granted."
