حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجذوعي، ثنا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ تَوْبَةَ الْعَنْبَرِيِّ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: جَلَسْتُ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ سِنِينَ أَوْ سَنَةً وَنِصْفًا مَا سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَ مَرَّةً عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِضَبٍّ فَجَعَلَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يَأْكُلُونَهُ وَفِيهِمْ سَعْدٌ، فَنَادَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ ضَبٌّ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كُلُوهُ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ طَعَامِ قَوْمِي»
Al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I sat in the company of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) for several years, or a year and a half, but I never heard him narrate any hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), except once, when he narrated this from one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): that a lizard (dabb) was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and some of his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions began to eat it, among them Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him). One of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called out to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him that it was a lizard, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat it, there is no harm in it, but it is not the food of my people."
