Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw Ma'iz when he was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he was a short, muscular man. He testified against himself four times that he had committed adultery, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perhaps something else came from you (and not adultery)." He said: No, by Allah! This wretched one has committed adultery. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) had him stoned. Then he delivered a sermon and said: "Listen! Whenever we set out in the path of Allah, one of them stays behind (with the women) and bleats like a billy-goat (that is, inclines towards indecency); he gives one of the women a little milk. Beware! Whichever of them Allah gives me power over, I will make him an exemplary punishment."
