Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father, from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Uqbah bin Khalid said: Hisham bin Urwah said: Yazid bin Ruman narrated to me from Urwah, from Sayyidah Aishah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the Days of Ignorance, eleven women gathered together, and they made a pact among themselves that they would speak truthfully to one another and would not conceal anything about their husbands.
The first said: My husband is like the meat of a lean camel (placed) on the top of a mountain; (the mountain) is neither easy to climb, nor is (the meat) fat enough to be carried away.
The second said: I will not spread the news of my husband; I fear that I would not be able to describe him completely. If I were to mention him, I would have to recount all his faults, small and large.
The third said: My husband is tall (and useless); if I speak, he divorces me, and if I keep silent, he leaves me hanging (without a decision).
The fourth said: My husband, if he eats, he gathers up everything; if he drinks, he drinks up (everything); if he lies down, he wraps himself up (in a blanket); and he does not put his hand (on my body) to learn my condition.
The fifth said: My husband is feeble and useless; every fault is in him. He may wound you, or break (one of your limbs), or do both together.
The sixth said: My husband is like the night of Tihamah: neither hot, nor cold, nor any fear.
The seventh said: My husband, when he enters the house, is like a gentle cheetah, and when he goes out, he becomes a lion, and he does not ask about what he left (in the house).
The eighth said: My husband's touch is (soft) like a rabbit's, and his scent is the scent of zarnab, and I keep him under my control while he prevails over (other) people.
The ninth said: My husband is one with a lofty pillar, a long sword-belt, abundant ashes, and his house is near the place of assembly.
The tenth said: My husband is Malik, yes, he is Malik, and what is Malik! Malik is even better than that. He has camels that seldom go out to graze and mostly stay kneeling at home; when they hear the sound of the lute, they are certain that they are about to be slaughtered.
The eleventh said: My husband is Abu Zar', and what is Abu Zar'! He weighed down my ears with ornaments, and filled my upper arms with fat, and he made me happy, so my heart became happy too. He had found me in a family with a few sheep (in a poor condition), then he brought me into an environment of neighing horses, groaning camels, and those who thresh the crops and clean the grain. With him, whatever I say, I am not rebuked for it; I sleep and wake late at leisure; and I drink and am fully satisfied. The mother of Abu Zar', and what is the mother of Abu Zar'! Her bags of provisions are full and heavy, and her house is spacious. The son of Abu Zar', and what is the son of Abu Zar'! His sleeping place is like a (thin) palm stalk drawn out, and the foreleg of a young kid satisfies him. The daughter of Abu Zar', and what is the daughter of Abu Zar'! Obedient to her father, obedient to her mother, filling her garment, and a cause of envy for her co-wife. The maidservant of Abu Zar', and what is the maidservant of Abu Zar'! She does not spread our talk (here and there), nor does she waste and scatter our provisions, nor does she fill our house with rubbish.
One day Abu Zar' went out while the milk skins were being churned, and he passed by a woman who had two sons like cheetahs (in agility), playing with two pomegranates beneath her waist. He divorced me and married her. After him, I married a dignified man who rode a swift horse, carried a Khatti spear, brought many cattle back from pasture for me, and gave me a pair of every kind of grazing animal, and said: O Umm Zar'! Eat, and feed your family as well. Yet if I were to gather everything he gave me, it would not fill even the smallest of Abu Zar's vessels."
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "I was to you as Abu Zar' was to Umm Zar'."
