Sa'id bin Jubayr said: "Indeed, those who" [Surah An-Nur: 19], meaning whoever accused Sayyidah Aishah, "love that indecency should spread" [Surah An-Nur: 19], meaning that fornication should spread and become manifest, "among the believers" [Surah An-Nur: 19], meaning concerning Safwan and Sayyidah Aishah, "will have a painful punishment" [Surah An-Nur: 19], meaning agonising, "in this world and the Hereafter" [Surah An-Nur: 19]. So the punishment of Abdullah bin Ubayy in this world was the hadd, and in the Hereafter the punishment of Hell. "And Allah knows and you do not know" [Surah Al-Baqarah: 216].
