حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعْدٍ الْأَعْوَرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: «تَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيَّ حَوْفٌ، فَمَا هُوَ أَنْ تَزَوَّجَنِي حَتَّى أَلْقَى الله عَلَيَّ الْحَيَاءَ، وَالْحَوْفَ» . قَالَ: وَالْحَوْفُ: شَيْءٌ يَصْنَعُهُ الْأَعْرَافُ عَلَى الصِّبْيَانِ مِنْ سُوَرٍ يُلْبِسُهُ الْأَعْرَابُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her); she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me while I was wearing a hawf (a garment worn by young children), and as soon as he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, Allah placed modesty in me. The narrator said: The hawf is something that the desert people used to make for their children; the Bedouins would dress their children in it.
