حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، - ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ الْعَمِّيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ، ثنا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ عَلَى جَيْشِ ذَاتِ السَّلَاسِلِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟، قَالَ: «عَائِشَةُ» ، قُلْتُ: مِنَ الرِّجَالِ، قَالَ: «أَبُوهَا» ، قُلْتُ: وَمَنْ؟، قَالَ: «عُمَرُ» ، قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ مَنْ فَعَدَّدَ رِجَالًا.
Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him in command of the army of the expedition of Dhat al-Salasil. So I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, who is the most beloved of people to you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Aishah." I said: Among the men? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Her father." I said: Then who? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umar." I said: Then who? And he (peace and blessings be upon him) named a number of men.
