Aishah bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with them both), wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (he gave her the kunyah Umm Abdullah after Abdullah bin al-Zubayr; the mother of Aishah and her brother Abd al-Rahman was Umm Ruman bint Amir bin Uwaymir bin Abd Shams bin Abd Manaf bin Udhaynah bin Subay' bin Dahman bin al-Harith bin Abd bin Malik) — Chapter

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْبَزَّارُ، ثنا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، كِلَاهُمَا، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: «خِلَالٌ فِيَّ سَبْعٌ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي أَحَدٍ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا مَا أَتَى اللهُ مَرْيَمَ بِنْتَ عِمْرَانَ، وَاللهِ مَا أَقُولُ هَذَا فَخْرًا عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ صَوَاحِبِي» ، فَقَالَ لَهَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ: وَمَا هُنَّ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ؟ قَالَتْ: «نَزَلَ الْمَلَكُ بِصُورَتِي، وَتَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِسَبْعِ سِنِينَ، وَأُهْدِيتُ إِلَيْهِ لِتِسْعِ سِنِينَ، وَتَزَوَّجَنِي بِكْرًا لَمْ يَشْرُكْهُ فِيَّ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ، وَكَانَ الْوَحْيُ يَأْتِيهِ وَأَنَا وَهُوَ فِي لِحَافٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَكُنْتُ أَحَبَّ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ، وَبِنْتَ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ، وَقَدْ نَزَلَ فِيَّ آيَاتٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ، وَقَدْ كَادَتِ الْأُمَّةُ تَهْلِكُ فِيَّ وَرَأَيْتُ جِبْرِيلَ وَلَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ غَيْرِي، وَقُبِضَ فِي بَيْتِي لَمْ يَلِهِ أَحَدٌ غَيْرِي وَالْمَلَكُ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: There are seven qualities in me that were not found in any woman except what Allah gave Maryam bint Imran (peace be upon her). By Allah, I do not say this to boast over any of my companions. At that, Abdullah bin Safwan asked: O Mother of the Believers, what are they? She said: The angel came down with my image; and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me at the age of seven, and I was sent to him as a bride at the age of nine. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me as a virgin, and no one else shared me with him. And revelation would come to him (peace and blessings be upon him) while he and I were under one cover. And I was the most beloved of people to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and the daughter of the one who was most beloved of people to him (peace and blessings be upon him). And verses of the Qur'an were revealed concerning me. And the Ummah nearly perished because of me. And I saw Jibril (peace be upon him), while none of his (peace and blessings be upon him) wives other than me saw him. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away in my house, and no one attended to him (peace and blessings be upon him) other than me and the angel.
