Aishah bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with them both), wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (he gave her the kunyah Umm Abdullah after Abdullah bin al-Zubayr; the mother of Aishah and her brother Abd al-Rahman was Umm Ruman bint Amir bin Uwaymir bin Abd Shams bin Abd Manaf bin Udhaynah bin Subay' bin Dahman bin al-Harith bin Abd bin Malik)

حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمَرْزُبَانِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: «تَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيَّ حَوْفٌ، وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَزَوَّجَنِي أُلْقِيَ عَلَيَّ الْحَيَاءُ» . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: " وَالْحَوْفُ: ثَوْبٌ مِنْ سُيُورٍ يُلْبِسُهُ الْأَعْرَابُ أَبْنَاءَهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me while I was wearing a child's leather garment, and as soon as he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, modesty was cast upon me.
Sufyan said: "The hawf is a garment made of leather strips which the Bedouins used to dress their children in."
