Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will tell you a hadith that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I have always kept seeking a witness (confirmation) for this hadith, but I could not find one. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say during the expedition of Tabuk, while we were travelling with him (peace and blessings be upon him): "Allah commanded me to marry Fatimah to Ali, so I did." Jibril (peace be upon him) said: Allah has built a Paradise out of hollow pearl (tubes); between every tube and the next there is a pearl of ruby inlaid with gold. Its roofs are of green chrysolite, and in it are windows of pearl adorned with rubies. Then above it are chambers, one brick of which is of silver, one of gold, one of pearl, one of ruby and one of chrysolite. Then He placed in it springs gushing forth on its sides, and it is surrounded by rivers, and over the rivers He built domes of pearl joined together with chains of gold, and it is surrounded by all kinds of trees. On every branch He built a dome, and in every dome He placed a couch of white pearl, whose covering is of fine silk and brocade. Its floor is spread with saffron and perfumed with musk and ambergris. In every dome a houri has been placed, and every dome has a hundred doors; at every door there are two guards and two trees. In every dome there is a bed and a writing, and around the domes the Verse of the Throne (Ayat al-Kursi) is written. I said: "O Jibril, for whom has Allah built this Paradise?" He said: He built it for your daughter Fatimah and for Ali bin Abi Talib, besides their own gardens, a special gift presented to her, and it is to delight your eyes, O Messenger of Allah.
