حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا أَبُو الْجَوَّابِ الْأَحْوَصُ بْنُ جَوَّابٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ قَرْمٍ، عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ حُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءِ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ، قَالَتْ: خَطَبَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ فَاطِمَةَ، فَأَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّ أَسْمَاءَ مُتَزَوِّجَةٌ عَلِيًّا فَقَالَ: «مَا كَانَ لَهَا أَنْ تُؤْذِيَ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ»
Sayyidah Asma' bint Umays (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) proposed marriage to me. News of this reached Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), so she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Asma' is about to marry Ali. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not fitting for her to hurt Allah and His Messenger."
