حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ، «لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهَا الْوَفَاةُ، أَمَرَتْ عَلِيًّا فَوَضَعَ لَهَا غُسْلًا، فَاغْتَسَلَتْ وَتَطَهَّرَتْ، وَدَعَتْ بِثِيَابِ أَكْفَانِهَا فَأُتِيَتْ بِثِيَابٍ غِلَاظٍ خَشِنٍ وَلَبِسَتْهَا، وَمَسَّتْ مِنَ الْحَنُوطِ، وَأَمَرَتْ عَلِيًّا أَنْ لَا تُكْشَفَ إِذَا قُبِضَتْ، وَأَنْ تُدْرَجَ كَمَا هِيَ فِي ثِيَابِهَا» فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: هَلْ عَلَّمَتْ أَحَدًا فِعْلَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، كَثِيرَ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَكَتَبَ فِي أَطْرَافِ أَكْفَانِهِ يَشْهَدُ كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil (may Allah have mercy on him) that when death approached Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), she instructed Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to set out water for her ritual bath (ghusl). She bathed and purified herself, then asked for the garments of her shroud, and coarse, rough garments were brought to her. She put them on and applied some perfume, and she instructed Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when she passed away she should not be uncovered, but should be wrapped just as she was, in those same garments. (The narrator) said: I asked him: Did she teach anyone to do this? He said: Yes, Kathir bin Abbas. And he wrote on the edges of his shroud: Kathir bin Abbas bears witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah.
