حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نُحَيْلَةَ، رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ رُمِيَ بِسَهْمٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ انْزِعْهُ فَقَالَ: «اللهُمَّ انْقُصْ مِنَ الْوَجَعِ، وَلَا تَنْقُصْ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ» فَقِيلَ لَهُ: ادْعُ فَقَالَ: «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ وَاجْعَلْ أُمِّي مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Nuhaylah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he was struck by an arrow, and it was said to him: Pull it out. He said: "O Allah, lessen the pain, but do not lessen the reward." It was said to him: Supplicate. So he said: "O Allah, make me one of those brought near (al-muqarrabin), and make my mother one of the wide-eyed maidens of Paradise (al-hur al-in)."
