حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ أَبِي كَبْشَةَ الْأَنْمَارِيِّ قَالَ: ضَرَبَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثَلُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَرْبَعَةُ نَفَرٍ: " رَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللهُ عِلْمًا وَمَالَا فَهُوَ يَعْمَلُ بِعِلْمِهِ فِي مَالِهِ وَرَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللهُ عِلْمًا وَلَمْ يُؤْتِهِ مَالًا، فَهُوَ يَقُولُ: لَوْ آتَانِي اللهُ مِثْلَ مَا آتَى هَذَا لَعَمِلْتُ فِيهِ كَمَا يَعْمَلُ فَهُمَا فِي الْأَجْرِ سَوَاءٌ، وَرَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللهُ مَالًا وَلَمْ يُؤْتِهِ عِلْمًا فَسَلَّطَهُ عَلَى هَلَكَتِهِ فِي غَيْرِ الْحَقِّ لَا يَتَّقِي فِيهِ رَبًّا وَلَا يَصِلُ فِيهِ رَحِمًا وَرَجُلٌ لَمْ يُؤْتِهِ اللهُ عِلْمًا وَلَمْ يُؤْتِهِ مَالًا فَهُوَ يَقُولُ: لَوْ آتَانِي اللهُ مِثْلَ مَا آتَى هَذَا لَعَمِلْتُ فِيهِ مِثْلَ مَا يَعْمَلُ فَهُمَا فِي الْوِزْرِ سَوَاءٌ "
Sayyiduna Abu Kabshah al-Anmari (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) described to me the likeness of this Ummah as four men: "A man to whom Allah gave both knowledge and wealth, so he acts according to his knowledge in his wealth. And a man to whom Allah gave knowledge but did not give wealth, so he says: If Allah had given me the same as He gave this one, I would act with it as he acts. These two are equal in reward. And a man to whom Allah gave wealth but did not give knowledge, so he squanders it in ways that are not right; he neither fears his Lord in it nor maintains the ties of kinship with it. And a man to whom Allah gave neither knowledge nor wealth, so he says: If Allah had given me the same as He gave this one, I would act with it as he acts. These two are equal in sin."
