It is narrated from Muhajir bin Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abu Sa'd al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by Marwan bin al-Hakam on the Day of the House (Yawm al-Dar) while he lay wounded, and Abu Sa'd said: O son of al-Zarqa'! Had I known that you were alive, I would have finished you off. Abd al-Malik bin Marwan held this in his heart. When Abd al-Malik became caliph, Abu Sa'd was brought to him, and Abu Sa'd said: Remember the instruction of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Abd al-Malik bin Marwan asked: What is that? He said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Honour those of them who do good, and pardon those of them who do wrong." Abu Sa'd was the husband of Asma' bint Yazid bin al-Sakan bin Amr bin Haram.
