Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I set out with my father towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When I saw him, my father said: Do you know who this is? I said: No. He said: This is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). On seeing this, a trembling came over me, for I used to think that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would be some being unlike ordinary people, whereas he was a human being whose hair reached his shoulders, with a trace of henna in it, and he was wearing two green cloaks. My father greeted him with salam, then the two of them sat and talked for a while. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to my father: "Is this your son?" He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Truly?" He said: I bear witness to it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, because of my resemblance to my father being confirmed and because of my father swearing about me. Then he said: "Indeed, he will not bear the burden of your offence, nor will you bear the burden of his." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "No bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." [Surah al-An'am: 164] Then my father saw something like a swelling between his (peace and blessings be upon him) shoulders and said: O Messenger of Allah, I am indeed one of the most skilled physicians; shall I treat it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, its physician is the One who created it."
