حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَا: ثنا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعَتْهُ أُذُنَايَ، وَأَبْصَرَتْ عَيْنَايَ حِينَ تَكَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ جَائِزَتُهُ» قَالُوا: وَمَا جَائِزَتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: «يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ، وَالضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثٌ، وَمَا كَانَ وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْهِ، وَلَا يَثْوِي عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى يُخْرِجَهُ» وَقَالَ: «وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخَرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ»
Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh al-Adawi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My ears heard and my eyes saw when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said this: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honour his guest, (giving) his special hospitality." The people said: O Messenger of Allah, what is his special hospitality? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One day and one night, and hospitality is three days; whatever is beyond that is charity from the host to him. And he should not stay with him so long that he has to put him out." And he said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent."
