Sayyiduna Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in a red tent at al-Abtah among some people of Banu Amir. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked us: "Which tribe are you from?" We said: From Banu Amir. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I too am from you." Then Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came out and set down water for ablution for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); then he gave the call to prayer, put his two fingers in his ears and turned around while giving the adhan, and he planted a short spear for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed facing it, leading Zuhr as two rak'ahs and Asr as two rak'ahs. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "Come to me in Madinah," and he promised us some sult (a kind of barley). So we came to Madinah and found that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had passed away. We went to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and he fulfilled the promise that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had made.
