حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ صَدَقَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي بِنْتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا قَالَ: قُلْتُ: " يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الرَّجُلُ يُحِبُّ قَوْمَهُ، أَعَصِبِيٌّ هُوَ؟ قَالَ: «لَا» قُلْتُ: مَنَ الْعَصَبِيُّ؟ قَالَ: «الَّذِي يُعِينُ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ»
The daughter of Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from her father that he said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, a man who loves his people, is he one of partisanship ('asabiyyah)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." I said: "Then who is the one of partisanship?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who helps his people in wrongdoing."
