Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda', Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa', Sayyiduna Abu Umamah and Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with them) say: We were in a gathering of some Jews, discussing divine decree (al-qadar), when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us in a state of anger. His (peace and blessings be upon him) face was changed with anger; he rebuked us and showed his displeasure, then said: "Stop! O Ummah of Muhammad, fear Allah. There are two deep, many-layered, dark valleys; lest the heat of the Fire reach you." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the Jews to stand up, then he himself stood, stretched out his right hand and the finger of his left hand, then said: "Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful). This is a writ from Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, with the names of the people of Paradise, the names of their fathers, the names of their mothers and the names of their clans. Your Lord has finished (the matter), your Lord has finished, your Lord has finished. I have left no excuse; I have warned. O Allah, I have conveyed."
