It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): he (peace and blessings be upon him) began the prayer, said the takbir and raised his hands, then took hold of his left hand with his right hand. When he intended to bow, he said the takbir and raised his hands, then placed his palms on his knees and kept his fingers spread apart. When he raised his head, he said the takbir and raised (his hands). When he prostrated, he placed his forehead between his two palms and kept the toes of his feet upright. When he rose, he folded his left foot and kept the toes of his right foot upright. When he sat, he placed his left palm on his left thigh and his right elbow on his right thigh, closed his little finger and the one next to it, made a ring with the middle finger and the thumb, and pointed with the index finger, supplicating with it."
