Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna al-Ash'ath bin Qays al-Kindi (may Allah be pleased with him) and a man from Hadramawt brought a dispute to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning a piece of land that was in the possession of al-Ash'ath bin Qays al-Kindi and which the Hadrami claimed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the Hadrami: "Your evidence?" He said: I have no evidence. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you have no evidence, then al-Ash'ath will take an oath." He said: O Messenger of Allah, if you leave it to al-Ash'ath's oath, my right will be lost! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever swears a false oath in order to seize the property of a Muslim man will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection while He is angry with him."
