Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 18118 — A man said in the presence of Mughirah

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ: صَلَّى الله عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدَهُ , فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ: " حَسْبُكَ أَنْ تَقُولَ: خَاتَمِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ , فَإِنَّا كُنَّا نُحَدَّثُ أَنَّ عِيسَى بْنَ مَرْيَمَ خَارِجٌ , فَإِنْ كَانَ خَارِجًا فَقَدْ كَانَ قَبْلَهُ وَبَعْدَهُ "
Al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: A man said in the presence of Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him): "May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Seal of the Prophets, after whom there is no prophet." At this Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "It is enough for you to say 'the Seal of the Prophets', for we used to be told that Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him) will come (again); so if he comes, then he was both before him (peace and blessings be upon him) and (will come) after him (peace and blessings be upon him)."
