Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 17998 — We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الرِّحَابِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ الْمُقَوِّمُ، ثنا مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيُّ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيُّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَهَبَ لِحَاجَتِهِ، ثُمَّ أَشَارَ إِلَيَّ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِمَاءٍ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ شَامِيَّةٌ، لَيْسَ لَهَا يَدَانِ، فَأَلْقَاهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فَقَالَ: «صُبَّ عَلَيَّ» فَصَبَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، وَكَانَتْ سُنَّةً: «الْمُسَافِرُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ، وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ»
Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) went to relieve himself. Then he gestured to me, so I brought water to him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a Syrian cloak that had no sleeves, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw it over his shoulders and said: "Pour (water) for me." I poured water for him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and wiped over the leather socks. And this was the Sunnah: "For the traveller three days and their nights, and for the resident one day and one night (as the period of wiping)."
