Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: He was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted and said: "Is there any water for purification?" So I brought him water. He (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his hands and his face, then he went to wash his forearms but the cloak was tight - it was one of the Roman cloaks - so he (peace and blessings be upon him) brought his hands out from beneath the cloak and washed his forearms. Then I reached for the leather socks, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave the leather socks, for I put my feet into the leather socks while they were pure." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over the leather socks.
