حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عِقَالٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي قَالَا: ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، ثنا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُجَاشِعٌ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَخِي مَعْبَدٍ لِيُبَايِعَهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ، فَقَالَ: «ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الْهِجْرَةِ بِمَا فِيهَا» ، فَقُلْتُ: فَعَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تُبَايِعُهُ؟ قَالَ: «أُبَايِعُهُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ - أَوِ الْإِيمَانِ - وَالْجِهَادِ» فَلَقِيتُ مَعْبَدًا بَعْدُ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ - وَكَانَ أَكْبَرَهُمَا - فَقَالَ: صَدَقَ
Sayyiduna Mujashi' bin Mas'ud al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I brought my brother Ma'bad to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he would take his pledge for emigration. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The people of emigration have already taken its reward." I said: Then on what will you take his pledge? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I take his pledge for Islam - or faith - and jihad." Later I met Ma'bad and asked him to confirm this incident - he was the elder of the two brothers - and he said: He has spoken the truth.
