Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 17847 — I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ -: «وَاللهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا مِثْلُ مَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِصْبَعَهُ فِي الْبَحْرِ، ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُهَا، فَلْيَنْظُرْ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ؟»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), while pointing with his finger, say: "By Allah, this world, compared to the Hereafter, is only like one of you putting his finger into the sea, then taking it out; so let him see what it brings back."
